Your Wardrobe, Your Way

At Cover Me Chic, we believe every woman deserves clothing that celebrates her curves while honoring her values. Our curated collection of sewing patterns, premium fabrics, and exclusive membership community empowers you to create a wardrobe that’s uniquely, beautifully you.

Meet Our Founder

I’m Zahiyya (pronounced Zah-hee-yah), and my journey in fashion began long before Cover Me Chic was born. After spending over 25 years in New York City’s fast-paced fashion industry—rising from the design floor to Design Director—I discovered my true calling: helping women take control of their style through the art of sewing.

Having navigated the disconnect between mainstream fashion and the needs of curve-loving, modesty-minded women, I knew there had to be a better way. That’s why I created Cover Me Chic—not just as a pattern and fabric shop, but as a creative haven where women can design their dream wardrobe without compromise.

Pattern Difficulty Guide

We believe that anyone can sew anything with enough patience and perseverance. However, knowing how time-consuming or challenging a pattern might be can help you decide what suits your skills and schedule. Our skill levels are based on the techniques each pattern requires, but don’t worry—our patterns will guide you through everything, so feel free to challenge yourself! Here’s how we rate our patterns:

Beginner:
Designed for true beginners with simple designs and easy sewing techniques. These patterns are quick to sew, with no complicated closures like zippers or buttons. They’re perfect if you’re new to sewing or short on time. Expect straightforward construction with minimal hand sewing or fitting required. We recommend using easy-to-handle fabrics.

Confident Beginner:
Ideal for beginners ready to learn new skills. These patterns may include slightly more complex features like zippers or buttons, but they’re still relatively quick to sew. They provide more variety than basic beginner patterns but are great for those with limited sewing knowledge. Some fitting knowledge is helpful, and the fabrics may vary slightly but remain beginner-friendly.

Intermediate:
These patterns offer more details and design complexity, such as zippers, topstitching, or a zipper fly. Projects in this category can take more than 7 hours to complete, so they’re ideal if you have more time and experience. Expect techniques like tailoring or unique construction details. You’ll also encounter a wider variety of fabrics, from stretch knits to synthetic leathers.

Advanced:
Perfect for experienced sewists, these patterns are more detailed and time-consuming, often requiring 9+ hours to complete. Expect more pattern pieces, precision work, and advanced techniques like bound buttonholes or welt pockets. These are highly tailored designs that require patience and skill to achieve a professional finish.
