2 things you need to know for a great bra fit

How to fit a BraLadies, I know we are liberated but we still need support. A bra that is. Going bra-less, not having adequate support or wearing the wrong size does nothing for flattering our figures. “Headlights (Nipples showing through your shirt) –not cute, chicken cutlets (those who have them know what I’m talking about- gravity is in full affect).

A good fit for your clothes starts with good undergarments. Bra’s being at the top of that list. Can you believe about 80% of women wear the wrong bra size? Below, I’ve included some tips on how to determine your correct fit to increase your fabulousness!

  1. Top of the bra cup should completely contain the breast. If bulging exists, the cup is too small. If wrinkling, the cup is too big.
  2. Bra brand should fit very snugly around the rib cage.
  3. Back of the bra should stay down on the body. If the back rides up the band may be too large.

There are many way’s to determine your correct size. I’ll just include the most traditional way:

Step 1. Band Size

Upper bra measurementWhile standing straight and wearing a regular bra, wrap the tape measure around your chest, above the bust. Make sure the tape is straight all the way around you. Pull the tape until it is taut but not restrictive or pinching. Now, round the measurement to the nearest even number. That’s your band size or rib cage measurement. Example Band size: 35 ½ = 36 band

Step 2. Cup Size

Full bra measurementWhile still standing and wearing a regular bra, wrap the tape measure around the fullest part of your bust. Again, pull the tape until it is taut but not pinching or digging into your bust. Make sure the tape is straight and around the fullest part of your bust. If you are in between whole numbers for this measurement, round to the nearest whole number. If you’re directly in between two whole numbers, round to the next largest whole number.
Example 38 ½ = 39

Now, subtract your even-numbered band size (step #1) from the whole-numbered measurement in step #2 and convert the difference to your cup size according to the chart below.

Example Cup Size: 34 – 39 = 5 which results in a DD cup
Example Final Result: 34 DD

Until next time, stay beautiful!
